aberon F-DRP is a powerful Information Technology System in the Sales Forecast andSupply Chain management area. It has been designed to be simple in its use and effective in its functioning. In only three steps, the user may forecast future sales, plan purchases or production orders and, finally, issue the purchase order document or the production plan.

Forecasting the future sales of the company items constitutes the foundation of correct inventory planning and control.

Aberon F-DRP incorporates forecasting methods and procedures, which adapt automatically to the seasonal behavioral patterns and trends of the company items, without requiring any intervention or parameter adjustment by the user.

The user simply activates the forecast process for an item, an item group, for a specific supplier or for all items and the process runs automatically by providing reliable forecasts for thousand of SKU's just within a few minutes. The following relevant functions are integrated into the forecast process:

Transfer of historical data to aberon F-DRP
Past sales are transferred in aberon F-DRP from ERP via an appropriate interface. Such data regard quantitative sales per item on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, depending on the forecast group, which the item belongs to.

Historical Data Adjustment
Adjustment of the historical data is an optional process that provides the user with the capability to intervene and correct historical sales that are due to circumstantial situations such as intense marketing activities. promotions or out-of-stocks. Such adjustments may be performed on any item or item group using multiple selection criteria, both by percentage increase-decrease and by setting specific value. All adjustments of historical sales are made with specific reference to a predefined adjustment reason. The adjustment reasons are kept in a parametric table of the system.

The statistical forecast of sales is implemented by using self-adaptive statistical algorithms. Aberon F-DRP analyzes the past time series of each item's sales and chooses the best forecast method for each item separately. The forecast algorithm calculates the seasonality pattern and the trend of sales and removes any noise existing in the data that is due to circumstantial factors. It also compares the item's seasonality with the seasonality of the "seasonal" group which the item belongs to and performs the necessary corrections. The result of this process is the forecast of sales for the subsequent time periods, such as, e.g., during the next 28 days, the next 24 weeks, the next 12 months. The system supports both the individual item forecasting and the item category forecasting.

Adjustment of Forecast demand
The system enables the user to adjust the sales forecast according to additional information coming from the market or based on the potential promotion actions planned by the company's marketing department. Such adjustment may be performed on any item or item group based on multiple criteria selection, both by percentage increase- decrease and by spescfic values. All adjustments of sales forecasts are made with specific reference to a adjustment reason. The reasons for adjustment sales forecasts are kept in a parametric table of the application. The adjustment of forecast demand is an optional process.

Prorating Process
Prorating is an user transparent process and is executed automatically by aberon F-DRP without requiring any intervention by the user. This function automatically converts item sales (quantity) from forecasting time unit (e.g. month) into scheduling time unit (week or day) as specified in the item setup parameters. Therefore, if, for example, the forecasting of an item is executed per month while the item monitoring and purchase scheduling is per week, the prorating procedure recalculates the weekly sales forecasts according to the monthly forecasts calculated by the forecasting method.

STOCK PLANNING

The procedures of Inventory Planning and Purchase Orders Creation is based on the model of "Time Phased Planning", which has been successfully implemented in MRP and MRP II systems (Material Requirements and Manufacture Resource Planning) for manufacturing processes.

According to the multiple criteria item selection capability, the user can easily select an item or a group of items and creates a replenishment plan. The items may be selected according to any user-specified criteria such as supplier, vendor, category etc. The user specifies also the time span in which the system will execute the inventory planning and the system produces the replenishment proposal plan.

Without user’s intervention, aberon F-DRP automatically creates the Time Phased Table with the proposed purchase orders. The results are displayed in a spreadsheet like table, where the user may view, per item and time period, the following information:

    Plan of Receipts

    Based on the replenishment plan, the user may create the plan of receipts according to which the user can receive a global picture of the evolution of receipts in time.

    Purchase Order Form
    Aberon F-DRP creates the Purchase Order Documents and forword them to suppliers. It also marks the items that have to be ordered by an expediting procedure, in order to avoid future shortages.

    The Time Phased Plan Sheet enables a total view of stock quantities and proposed purchases in depth of time. By dragging the mouse over a cell, the system displays the quantity in other units such as value, volume, weight, transport units, etc.

    he time phased planning sheet provides the user with the capacity to display or hide information at line level, to transform the quantities from the default time unit used for monitoring the item into another time unit, such as, for example, from week into month. It may divide the sheet in sectors and, finally, view, for specific items, an item group or all items, the aggregate quantities of the items displayed in the sheet, expressed in several stock measurement units, such as value, volume, weight, pallets, etc. Moreover, the user may intervene and change quantities in the time phased planning sheet and the system automatically recalculates the supply plan.


    Whole Cargo Creation
    One of the most strong features of aberon F-DRP is that it enables the user to form whole order cargoes to the suppliers, in order to decrease transportation costs. Whole cargoes may be whole trucks, containers, train cars etc. Formation of whole cargoes is achieved by transferring item quantities from adjacent time periods or by increasing or decreasing the quantities formed by the stock planning scheme.

    Simulation and Sensitivity Analysis
    Aberon F- DRP presents to the user the future evolution of the available stock and the relevant volumes (e.g. stock coverage time periods, expected receipts, proposed purchases or production orders etc.).
    The user, based on the information provided by the system, can timely diagnose forthcoming future problems, such as inadequacy of the storage system, financial problems etc. It can also assess the future work load in the warehouse, as well as calculate insurance costs, based on the amount of the expected projected stock in the future.
    The sensitivity analysis enables the user to explore the consequences of certain extraordinary events, such as, e.g., if a large extraordinary order of a client could cause shortages or if the delay in a specific expected receive would be critical for the company's operation.
    All these simulations and sensitivity analyses are performed in a very simple and easy-to-use way on spreadsheets like sheets of aberon F-DRP. At any time, the user may cancel a scenario and explore another one.

    Sales Budget Creation
    aberon F-DRP provides the capacity to create sales budget.
    The budget may be created in two ways.
    According to the first one, the system executes the statistical forecast process and transforms the sales forecasts into budget, where, of course, the user may amend the quantities calculated.
    The second budget creation method regards the collective recording or insertion via an interface of the total annual quantities and the system allocates quantities per month based on the seasonal pattern of each item.

    ABC Analysis
    aberon F-DRP enables the user to perform an ABC analysis for all SKUs or a group of SKUs and for a specific time period . The analysis may be based on money or quantities, by selecting the measurement unit that the user desires, such as piece, carton, pallet, etc.

    Item Abrogation - Replacement
    aberon F-DRP enables the user to abrogate an item and to create a new item that automatically inherits the historical pattern of the abrogated SKU, so that it is possible to forecast sales.

    Forecasting Using Incomplete Data
    aberon F-DRP provides the capacity to forecast sales using a minimum number of historical data. If the existing data are not sufficient, the system makes automatically use of data from the sales budget. Moreover, if the item presents seasonal behavior and the available historical data are not sufficient to calculate the seasonality coefficients, then the system exploits the aggregrate seasonality of the group which the item belongs to.
